Day 5 - July 11
Oban, Scotland, Hagrid's Hut, Glenfinnan Viaduct, & Whitebridge
After the bagpipe concert the night before, our Scouts didn’t quite want to leave Oban yet, so we altered our original plans for the morning and the Scouts set about exploring the town.
Our late departure from Oban kept us from visiting Eilean Donan Castle near the gateway to the Isle of Skye, but it opened us up to other adventures. We decided to head just above the little town of Glencoe to visit the filming location of Hagrid’s Hut from Harry Potter. This required a short hike to visit the spot, but the Scouts were very happy for the opportunity.
From there, it was on to the Glenfinnan Viaduct… the bridge that carried the train between London and Hogwarts. First was the Glenfinnan Monument and then a hike to the viaduct.
We made a quick stop in the hamlet of Whitebridge due to some motion sickness, but quickly got back underway to the Dalneigh Scout Hall in Inverness.
