2024 Contingent

The 2024 Scottish International Patrol Jamborette was held between July 15th  and 26th, 2024, at Blair Castle, Blair Atholl, Perthshire, Scotland. There were about 850 Scouts and 400 leaders attending the event, including equal numbers of Scots and Scouts from 12 other countries. Our contingent included twelve Scouts from different troops around the Baltimore Area Council in Maryland and one Scout from the Voyageurs Area Council in Minnesota, with five leaders - Andrew Huppert, Lori Hurley, Jen Dantinne, Tom Nieto, and Chuck Chamberlain.

The 2024 contingent to Scotland was defined by "change". Andrew Huppert took over as the contingent leader this year, the roster was completely filled by 6 Scouts each which meant that we brought full patrols, our touring of Scotland returned to it's historical "pre-Jamborette" schedule, touring destinations were completely dictated by the Scouts, the use of vans for transportation was incorporated into the trip, Scottish Scout Halls were used for accommodation, and countless other alterations. Many hours were spent agonizing over the schedule and setting up the touring requested by the Scouts and it all paid off. We arrived in Scotland and tipped the first domino which seamlessly knocked each successive one over (mostly) as planned. We did alter the schedule as the Scouts requested which only added to the experience as our travel progressed. All in all, the trip was a success and allowed everyone to see things that they asked for prior to leaving. As is always the case, we couldn't do it all... but that leaves something for next time. After a whirlwind 7 days on the road, we were carried to Blair Atholl by a Jamborette-arranged bus and our Scouts spent the next two weeks making memories for a lifetime. When it was all over, we woke up very early on the last day and made our way directly to the airport in Edinburgh, Heathrow (in London) and then home.
