Day 10-20 - July 16-25
Blair Atholl, Scotland
After an early wakeup, we enjoyed a smooth ride to the Jamborette and were greeted by the camp chief, checked in, separated into patrols, and were off and running! Our Scouts raised the American flag for the Jamborette opening again this year.
Over the course of the two weeks, our Scouts took part in activities that included high ropes, visiting the town of Pitlochry, project kaboom, soccer, volleyball, sports, archery, ax throwing, canyoning, crafts, kastle kurrents, culture zone, Dungeons and Dragons, climbing, water-sports, high (day) hike, Blair Aktor, crafts, culture zone, lawn bowling, a low (1/2 day) hike, a treasure hunt, radio Blair, the Atholl Experience, Blair Castle tour, a gorge walk, animation, photography, music, international field games, Team Challenge, Tartan Tent, and Bushcraft.
On Day 1, we had a patrol win the Sub-Camp Pennant for having the best inspection in the entire subcamp of Scouts. Later on we had multiple patrols win the Camp Chief Pennant (out of all of the patrols in the entire Jamborette, they were the patrol with the best inspection score).
All Of our Scouts found the Barbie and Ken Dance Party interesting, but only half of them went “all in” and had all the fun they could.
At the International Faire this year, our contingent decided to serve “Chesapeake Corn” to all of our international visitors. At the International Games this year, we managed to haul a regulation-sized (folding) cornhole game from America all the way to the Jamborette. Our Scouts introduced the younger Scottish Scouts to the joys of the game for an afternoon.
